In case where tubing/piping are penetrating shielding wall, care should
be taken to avoid personnel exposure to radiation streaming from radioactive sources
to surrounding areas through instrument sensing lines penetrations in the
shielding wall. To take care of the above, sensing lines penetrating the shield wall should be passed through embedded parts and surrounded by a
pipe sleeve in the shielding wall. The open space between the pipe sleeve and
the sensing lines should be filled with the suitable radiation absorbing material.
Sensing lines (tubing/piping) should pass the E.P. through seal plate and suitable
sealing arrangement should be provided on the seal plate using suitable fittings/bore
through tube fittings etc.
